LG seems to be well committed to re-increasing its market share in the mobile market, as it was a few years ago. Rumors have recently surfaced that the company may launch the ThinQ G8 during MWV 2019.
The LG G8 ThinQ leaked into a spreading picture that shows its dual camera, digital rear view reader and something curious in the notch: the absence of a speaker. It is believed that this phone uses the technology “Sound on Display” that uses the screen to transmit sound.
According to the Korean website Naver, the dimensions are not exact, but it is speculated that when separated, one of the screens will have three or four inches (depending on the thickness of the display).
When making use of the two attached screens, the G8 ThinQ should be up to seven inches, making it only slightly larger than the latest smartphones on the market.
It is possible that the G8 also comes with depth sensors for facial recognition.
LG has released a video on the MWC 2019 fair saying it will give “goodbye to the touch”, suggesting that it will adopt gestures on the mobile; a ToF (time of flight) sensor could be used exactly for this purpose.
Other rumors also say that the LG G8 thinq can mark the end of the series G for LG. Of course, unofficial information can always be wrong or even changed before the official decision of a company.
Full “do not touch me” screen?
Also promised for the MWC 2019 is the “Touchless” command insertion technology, which LG should usher in the ThinQ G8. According to the report, the technology works by means of gestual recognition through sensors positioned under the displays. The site claims that the recognition has high accuracy and captures gestures such as “sliding right / left” or “pinching” at a distance of up to 30 centimeters.
